If you’re considering a Christmas meal or party for your work colleagues or a special seasonal meal with family and friends, it’s advisable to book your places now as the most popular venues fill up quickly. We’ve selected some tempting menus for Christmas 2009 Riva, Peterborough Riva, set within the Key Theatre on Peterborough’s embankment is an ideal place for a Christmas party with its convenient central location. Riva will serve its full menu for Christmas parties and offer a wide selection of authentic Italian food. However, if parties require a set menu, this can be arranged. The Cherry House, Werrington The Cherry House in Werrington Peterborough has long been rated for consistently good food so it’s important to book as early as possible. The restaurant is open every day in December apart from the first two Mondays and will cater for lunch time and evening parties. The lunch time menu is £22.95, and evening £26.95. This includes a three course meal, and coffee. The Wheatsheaf, Titchmarsh The Wheatsheaf at Titchmarsh celebrates its first Christmas this year under new management and as word spreads about the excellent food and warm welcome on offer it is sure to be popular. Andy and Stella de Vaz are offering a Christmas Fayre menu, with two courses for £18 or three courses for £22. All the traditional choices are available as well as starters of chicken liver pate with plum jam and toasted brioche, or sautéed button mushrooms with creamy stilton sauce on crostini. For mains, there’s braised blade of beef or roasted butternut squash, sage and parmesan risotto. East, Peterborough East is offering a variety of festive menus. For a starting price of £18.95 per person, sample spicy Taro Nests and Sea Bass Harmony alongside traditional dishes with a festive twist such as Thai green curry with roast turkey. The Christmas menu is offered daily between Monday November 23rd up to and including Christmas Eve. Join the celebrations at East and Charters and at New Year you can start the evening with the grandeur of a full Pan Asian banquet and a complimentary glass of champagne, then sit back and enjoy either a three course (£28.95) or a four course set menu (£32.95). • For reservations, call East restaurant on 01733 315702 Upper Deck, Charters, Town Bridge, Peterborough PE1 1FP  The Red Lion, Warmington The Red Lion at Warmington is already fully booked for Christmas Day, but it will be serving a special Christmas menu from the 1st – 24th December for lunch and evening parties. The three course home cooked meal will be £20. The menu includes starter choices of minestrone soup, toasted crouton with melted goats cheese with a raspberry coulée, or the Red Lion’s own chicken liver pâté with Cumberland sauce. The main courses include turkey and trimmings, Scotch beef goulash, chicken in a honey and mustard sauce, roasted cod fillet, tomato, cheese and spinach stack and mushroom stroganoff. A Christmas party menu is on offer at £35 per head, including a half bottle of house wine per person. Choices include crayfish and rocket salad for starters, followed by traditional roast turkey, panfried red mullet or chestnut risotto, rounded off by Christmas pudding, raspberry crème brûlée, coffee and mince pies. The Chapel Dining Room is also open on Christmas Day serving a traditional menu with all the trimmings as well as more contemporary options. Included is a champagne reception, amuse bouche (or pre-starter), vegetarian options, coffee and mince pies. This menu is £65 a head. There will be a special Christmas menu during December and the usual wide selection of tapas to go with drinks. Places should be booked, but if space permits Archies will welcome people just turning up.
