Patrick Whenham-Bossy is no stranger to awards having received Egon Ronay’s ‘Best Cellar of the Year’ in his former role as Sommelier at Hambleton Hall. Patrick owns and runs Amphora Wines Ltd and the Wine Shop at Northfield Farm and has recently been awarded Prudhomme (Councellor) of the Jurade of St-Emilion in Bordeaux. “The ceremony took place at the Vintners’ Hall in London with all the St-Emilion delegation. This is a great distinction with very few awarded in the world and I am immensely proud and honoured.”
A Prud’homme de la Jurade is a Counsellor and the Jurade de Saint-Emilion is an ancient brotherhood of wine dating back precisely to 1199, when King John controlled the Aquitaine region of France. Revived in 1948, the current Jurade exists to organise tastings and induction ceremonies to promote the wines of Saint-Emilion.
Patrick uses his knowledge and his expertise to supply restaurants and private clients with a wide selection of high class house and fine wines, and also stocks very affordable bottles priced from as little as £5.
