Great news for any woman who has experienced a bad hair day on holiday - or at home for that matter. A semi permanent smoothing treatment known as the Brazilian blow dry is now available at The Hair Boutique in Wansford’s Haycock Hotel. The treatment, which has received a great deal of press coverage recently, is not a straightening process: instead it offers a smoothing action, so if you get caught in the rain, or experience humid weather, you don’t end up with an unwanted halo of frizz or kinks and curls. Only available in salons, the treatment claims to eliminate 95 per cent of frizz, while deeply conditioning the hair. This happens by bonding keratin on to the cuticle of the hair shaft, in a procedure which takes around three hours to carry out. Hair is washed, and roughly dried. The Keratin Complex treatment is applied and left for about 30 minutes before hair is blow dried, and straightened. You may not wash your hair for 72 hours afterwards, but then it is fine to proceed as normal, using special products which are supplied as part of the procedure. The treatment lasts for three to six months, depending on how often you wash your hair. It costs from £150.
