Did you know that half of all youngsters today are unable to identify a daddy-long-legs? Or recognise a Blue Tit? There’s so much for children to see and discover in our countryside. Explore the wonderful world of wildlife at Sacrewell Farm & Country Centre, located just a short drive from Throughout February half term week (11th-19th February) there will be plenty of fun-filled activities for the whole family to enjoy. Don’t miss your chance to discover more about the wild creatures in our countryside! “As part of our role as a local charity, we want to raise awareness of the importance of our countryside and the natural world,” explains General Manager Mike Rooney. “Farming is vitally important for food production, but it can also benefit wildlife and we like to think we can demonstrate that here at Sacrewell. Through sympathetic farming we can protect our wildlife habitats.” Children (and adults alike!) will enjoy following the Farm’s Wildlife Trail to discover fun animal facts. Find out more about bats in the 18th century Watermill, swans on the Mill Pond, Red Kites in the sky, and unearth the secret lives of badgers in their setts. In addition to this, children can try their hand at some creative craft activities, take part in Pond Dipping, and enjoy a bumpy Tractor & Trailer Ride around the 550-acre working farm. You may even get the chance to see the Farm’s hedgerow inhabitants up close with a Small Mammal Safari! Sacrewell Farm has held its prices for 2012, so you can enjoy a fantastic family day out that’s great value for money. Open daily, 9.30am-5pm from the 11th February. Before the 11th February the opening hours are 10am-4pm. Normal admission prices apply and activity times vary. For further details call 01780 782254 or visit www.sacrewell.org.uk.
